I haven't had much time to get on here and comment til now...
I think the asking price per pup should be based on quality, registry, then who the pup goes to.
I have sold pups for $500 + that were going to show homes and will be foundation breeding stock. I have also given dogs away for free to good homes, that still send me updates! I have sold them for $200-300 also to great homes that still keep me updated.
I have a breeding that I am going to price at $1200 and lower for pick pups. They are going to be UKC/ABKC registered and will be shown. I am only selling a very select few pups and co-owning the rest out to show homes.
It's all based on personal preference I guess.
I would never spend more than a few hundred for any dog, does not matter what registry or if it is show quality. I am a tight #$@! I guess. lol The way I see it is if you have some good pups that are show quality and you have people that are willing to spend a big chunk of money on them then why not charge a lot? If you believe your pups are worth $2000, so be it. If nobody buys them then they're really not worth that much. lol

If I have a litter that I'm selling for $500 and nobody buys any, I'm lowering the price ONLY for those who actually want to pay that much. I don't think I've ever sold a puppy for the price I had listed! The ones that don't try to lowball you are usually the best homes!

yea maybe i should have elabrated alittle but for the most part i see no sense in pricing a pup at 1k but if i had that much into a dog or a litter it wouldnt be forsale anymore i would have to keep it cause i would never sale it for a heafty price
just me but im not saying i dont agree with some of your points just saying i cant do it personally i would give it away before i sold it for 1grand

hmmm, there are sometimes were it is called for I believe.. I know that when I raise a litter I spend upt to a grand just to feed them during the time that I have them here.. then there are sometimes medical expenses like a csection etc which is at least another 1500 and God Forbid if it was an emergency, and then of course shots, health cert etc can run just over a hundred per pup and then lets say you are actually do the professional route and spend upwards of 1500 or more on a stud fee and/or spend time and money to show your dog first to make sure they are actually worthy to be bred. Not meaning to upset anybody as I also agree prices to tend to be on the crazy side on alot of the ads that I see.. however just because alot of pups are cheap doesnt mean they are actually quality either and Vica Versa on the expensive ads, lol! Take for instance the pup pictured in the quiz I just posted.. I saw there ad, R.E. pr ukc pups with paperwork for only 450 and I thought WOW thats a good price until you look arround at the website and see that all the pups look sickly and uncared for.. but yes for the most part I agree with youSmile
