Registries

I have had people ask me what registries make your dog more valuable?  Which one is better to register with? Which one is more organized?  Well this is what I have learned in the time I have been dealing with them.  Registries are a book keeping service. the papers are just a family tree of you dog linage. It something every breeder want and needs to have but one is not necessarily better then the other.  A registry shouldn't make your dog more valuable or better than another. What makes a dogs value should be the dog.  Its quality what they produce. Is it what your looking for? Do they throw Faults or disqualification?  Some people feel UKC and the ADBA are better registry and make your dog worth more. They are good registries and I register with them but paper work can get messed up with them just like any other small registry and it has. Now the shows you have won or placed I feel can make your dog more valuable and what is in there linage as far as the sire and the dame wining shows. Now that will depend on what registry you choose.  ADBA, NKC, CKC, and other looks for your more Original APBT your working class dogs. I personally think some of them are a little on the skinny side but that's just me.  The UKC is more of you standard can be a little heavier then your ADBA dogs.  UKC is one of the original registries who excepted the APBT. Ironically the AKC doesn't recognize the APBT but used a Colby dog ( an APBT bloodline) to make the standards for the AM Staff. The AM Staff and the APBT have remained separate but have the same bloodlines.  Some say they are different some say they are the same its the Registry that makes them different not the dog you pick what you think.

Now there is the ABKC now every registry I have talk about has standards, a written description what to look for in the dog when showing it.  Its guidelines to look for so you don't breed a dog with faults and we can keep APBT as close as we can to what it was breed for TO WORK. Now the ABKC has no standards its preference of he judge.  This is just the way they do things I personally don't care for it but people who like the overly stocky overly heavy dogs that don't meet normal standard use the ABKC. Now you will see a lot of faults in these dogs because they have no standard.  A lot of these dogs are UCK and ADBA registered but cannot show with them because they don't meet the qualifications. Its more of a popularity contest then a dog show.  I have shown dogs with them and register with them. They are a young registry and are trying to make a name for themselves.  Just like a lot of young registries they get a lot of people downing them. The NKC, APBR, and CKC are more young registries who are as good as the people who register with them.  If you lie and say you have a purebred and hang your papers just to breed a freak then until the registry can catch it, it has to take what you give it and go from there. The people and the dog make it what it is the registry doesn't make itself. People are the ones who hang papers and lie to get what they want not the dogs or the registries.

APBR is one of the registries I register with now a lot of there paper work is done on your good word and some people don't like that but every registry started in this matter. There was not printed paper and stuff when the UKC started ACK stared and the ADBA it was what people knew and told them.  Its lying people who make it bad and they get over on the best of them like UKC, ADBA they have found fraud in there registries.

Like I said its the dog that makes it valuable not the registry the registry is just a book keeper.
