I haven't been on in a while due to problems logging in... but I was just browsing the marketplace listings and my god are there a lot of people selling pups for under $100 and even more giving them away free!!!! What is with these people. OBVIOUSLY either hobby breeders or not very responsible owners having unexpected litters. Some of them even say APBR or CKC or whatever registered, with a kennel name???!!! Don't these registries check into this kind of stuff?? I know there's not much they can do other then withdraw their papers but AT LEAST do that!!!! That way their pups won't be worth anything at all and maybe they'll quit reproducing. It's a shame to any registry. If you're going to breed and do it RIGHT, there's no way you could sell a pup for less then at least $200 and not be losing money. These kind of people make me sick!!! Unplanned?---- get them spayed/neutered, you have no business breeding. For money?---do research, if you knew anything at all about the breed you'd know any person in their right mind can tell you don't know what you're doing just by the cost of your pups!!! And upping the cost won't fix the obvious anyway. DISGUSTING!!! IF ANY OF THESE PEOPLE KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIERS THEY WOULD KNOW THE #1 RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DON'T EVER, EVER GIVE THEM AWAY FOR FREE!!!!!!!!!!!! and if you have to ask 'why not'.... just go ahead and concider yourself contributing to animal abuse.

I also agree that as long as the pup is going to a good home then that's all that matters. BUT WHEN YOU'RE ADVERTISING TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN OTHER STATES, WHO YOU'VE NEVER MET BEFORE... who's to say the pups are going to "a good home". I'm sorry but i highly doubt someone who's listing their pups 'for free' are going to fly along with or personally deliver each pup to their new out of state home JUST to make sure it's a so called good home. So in a sense you're right, price has nothing to do with someone's intentions upon breeding but it absolutely should have something to do with someone's intentions for the puppies well being. Someone paying 300, 400, or 500 dollars for a dog is far more likely to properly care for it then someone who pays nothing. That and the chances of some random piece of s*** dog fighter googling 'pits for free' coming across your free puppies have about the same likelihood of happening. And trust me, that dog fighter is not going to show up in person to pick up the puppy... they'll send their girlfriend or little sister or even mother to fill your head full of bull about how good of a home they can provide. Some will even take you to a presentable residence claiming it is where the dog will live.... only because the 'pits' are never at their place of residence.</div><div> </div><div>But whatever... take it how you will. You know what I was talking about. At least I can sleep at night KNOWING my puppies are in loving homes that CAN and WILL take exceptional care of them. Honostly, putting a 2,3,or $400 price tag on a puppy only ensures that people answering the ad can at least financially care for the dog properly. Wether or not they actually will has nothing to do with cost, but at least it gives the pup a better chance.</div>
