Hello to all,

My name is Greg McMillan owner of Missouri's Finest Pit Bull Kennel.  I have a question for the kennel owners.  For all you kennel and or breeders, how much do you sell your puppies for?  You can private message me your answer if you feel the need to. The reason I ask is because I get a lot of lookers but when they ask for how much, I never hear from them again.  I feel that I have them priced just right in my opinion. I have seen more expensive for bullies. I am not doing this to make money.  I take pride in what I do and make the ownership of my puppies special.  In fact, all my dogs live inside until they find the RIGHT owner.  One last comment,  If you feel that I have a large price on my puppies, you should should check out Mugleston's Pitbull Farm.  Here is the link http://muglestonspitbullfarm.com/breedings.html  I don't mean any harm and thanks for letting me vent my frustrations.

Respectfully,

Missouri's Finest Pit Bull Kennel

Well, this is our first breeding and we also do not breed for the money. We like to stick to the standard APBT. If you think about it, standard APBT's are getting harder and harder to come across... so in my personal opinion they should cost more than bullies, and I really don't understand why it's the other way around. Prices really don't matter that much to us, we just care about the places our pups are going too.

So far we've had quite a bit of people interested. We decided that at 8 wks the price per pup would be $350.... but if the buyer contacts us before hand and wants to be on our waiting list they would only have to pay $200. We also do not hold deposits. We thought this was fair because we would like the buyer to still have money for food, toys, bedding, dog house, treats, etc. We knew if we priced the pups at $2000 that not to many people would be interested and they wouldn't have extra money to provide the pups with fun stuff.

Our pups are going to be dual registered, wormed 3 times, and have their first set of shots. They will also be vet. checked at least once maybe twice. They will be socialized with the neighborhood kids starting at 5/6 wks after they have their first shots. We think it is more important to talk to the buyers to make sure they are going to be great people and give them a good price that is affordable.

I am new to the Pit Bull World, and just your luck, I am not a fan of Bullie Pits.

As for pricing, I have read, that a pure breed is to go for 500 dollars, that is common sense as for there look and health. Any issue with that can lower the going price.

When I think of any dog falling in or around a pit bull Catergory, I think of an athlete, looks and temperment.

Why a bullie can go for so much to me is crazy, they are just what Pit Bulls are look at as out of compliance.

They look like fat azz, non athletic Pits or just what Pits are not allowed to look like if you wanna add more B.S to the best breed.

The American Pit Bull Terrier is a medium-sized, solidly built, short-coated dog with smooth, well-defined musculature. This breed is both powerful and athletic. The body is just slightly longer than tall, but bitches may be somewhat longer in body than dogs. The length of the front leg (measured from point of elbow to the ground) is approximately equal to one-half of the dog’s height at the withers. The head is of medium length, with a broad, flat skull, and a wide, deep muzzle. Ears are small to medium in size, high set, and may be natural or cropped. The relatively short tail is set low, thick at the base and tapers to a point. The American Pit Bull Terrier comes in all colors and color patterns except merle. This breed combines strength and athleticism with grace and agility and should never appear bulky or muscle-bound or fine-boned and rangy. Above all else, the APBT must have the functional capability to be a catch dog that can hold, wrestle (push and pull) and breathe easily while doing its job. Balance and harmony of all parts are critical components of breed type.

Very Serious Fault: Any disproportionate overdone characteristic (such as short legs, excessive bone or massive head or body) that would interfere with working ability.

So, what are bullies and their standard...lol

I'm not a fan of the bully pits, but thats my opinion. It is really hard to come by a standard Pit Bull nowadays because of the fact that people are selling the Bullies more than before. I personally think that a puppy should go for around $500 any gender. I dont think that people should price their puppies by gender, because thats when you get stuck with all the females at the end. Plus its harder to me to sell a female most people look for males.

Please check my website out and let me know what you think:

Hope I helped out a little!

I also am not a huge bullie fan. I like them but i dont perfer them. Their is just a higher demand for bullies and blues which is why they are selling for so much. I see that you have very good dogs but still in my opinion i think they are priced pretty high. Your dogs are good but you have to realize that the consumers can find other puppies that are good for alot cheaper. When people are looking for a pup they are going choosing from alot of different kennels so you are in competition with othere kennels and their prices.

Is there a market for them and are they priced in the market range? I usually do not price animals I raise at a "flat rate". In a litter there are going to be pups better than others, unless you have your breeding program down to a fine science. The top ind. sells highest, then the price should be adjusted to the market for that ind. pedigree and quality. But that is the way I market my animals, be it dogs, horses or goats. If you are stuck with not being able to sell your pups you need to take an honest assessment of your breeding program and pricing. Across the board spending is on a huge decline and many of us have had to get very creative to market animals.
