RE poll " Registry with APBR is considered having papers for the dog?"

I noticed that all members who responded to this poll have voted yes....what about those who cannot trace back the blood line and have no existing papers or registration with UKC or the like ?

In order to register a dog with the ADBA a complete three generation
pedigree is needed to start a research.  The dogs in the pedigree must tie back to their files and the owners of the dogs that are registered would have  to sign the application form to verify the unregistered dogs did come from their lines.  The ADBA does not start lines.

A common question from prospective buyers ask what "line does your dog come from"?

The APBR provide an exceptional community level of support and with the provision of their personalised Family Profile disks they have an exclusive method of tracking the history of our pits.  Without actul bloodline papers purchasers can be detered from purchasing unknown pedigrees.

Having commented; I support the APBR as they are a no fuss registry with personalised service and definately have enhanced the sales of my litters.

I welcome any feedback regarding tracing back bloodlines and hope to hear from our active members,

I am happy to stand corrected on this!

i agree, and  i've seen some APBR dogs that i would consider pitbull mixes. APBR does alot for the breed but i think other registries are more reputible as far as quality of pitbull. they all have pros and cons but i appreciate APBR because  i think they do teh most as far as helping th breed and the prespective society has of it.

Well, I didn't want to vote 'no' because most APBTs registered through the APBR have tracable bloodlines... although some do not, I voted 'yes' because for us it was the best answer. If their was an option that said something like 'yes some APBR pits have papers and some do not', I would have clicked on that!

UKC has been here since the start, it's a lot easier to trace bloodlines when you have the very first registered APBT..... APBR is doing the best they, they care about their members a lot more than any other registry and that's why this is the registry I enjoy the most! I'm sure everyone here feels the love! lol.

Really appreciate all the responses can anyone advise on who provides a service on how to trace bloodlines or start bloodline - this could be useful information for both APBR and members to strengthen/authenticate their generations

Thanks for all the props. We are actually working on an open tracking service tied to our Family Profile tracking system primarily for our members but will be open to others for other reasons as we are also tying in a tracking component that helps unify ID tracking systems such as microchips and tattoos.

Once the ID tracking system is set up it will be the first unified source for this data and our hope is, is that it not only will help in securing one's ownership of their Pits but will also be of greater benefit than current ID tracking services. Best of all it will be free to APBR members to have their personal tracking information added.

As a sneak peak you can see our search service in development here. Type in a well-known Pit and see what comes up. Search for your own Pit. Also if you would like to test the ID system thus far try typing in your Pit's Family Profile ID number. This is not the APBR number but is instead the short number in parentheses beside its name in the Family Profile. If you are interested in using this we suggest a tattoo on your Pit as its identifier, which can then be used for searches.

Once we have the ID system more formalized for tracking purposes we will then be having an education campaign to show people how to use it and to introduce it to vets shelters pounds and rescues so they too can take part. Currently we have over 44,000 vets and thousands of pounds, rescues, etc. listed in our databases. The really nice thing though is that even if someone finds a Pit that is identified they can look up the Pit info without having to take it to the vet or pound to get them to read a micro-chip ID.

Also to all members who are interested in taking part in the ID tracking service they can let us know and on their Family Profile we can create a link to their PitBullSocial profile here. This way if someone find's your Pit they can look it up and contact you with you having full control over the amount of personal information you provide them. Many Pit Bull owners enjoy their anonymity, as they understand not all are friendly to the breed or its owners. We respect and understand this.

Also APBR members can tie their profiles here (PitBullSocial) directly to their Family Profile. This can help, if you are wanting to provide information to prospect owners or just simply wish to share. If interested let us know and we will provide the details on how to make this happen for you.

In regards to bloodlines this is an often vague and misused terminology. Due to this we do not use it as a formal tracking system and instead opt for our "Family" system, which is far more accurate. We do understand people's interest in the subject however and do understand people will continue to use this in their own personal dealings.
