TATABUBS IS RIGHT.DEPENDS ON THE TYPE,THE FEMALE HERSELF AND CAN BE DIFFERENT EACH TIME THAT FEMALE HAS A LITTER.OUR SMALLEST LITTER HAS BEEN 5 AND OUR LARGEST 16

BELIEVE THIS OUR NOT-IT WAS ONE OF MY BULLIES [ CHOCCACON ] THAT THREW THE 16 HER LAST BREEDING BEFORE RETIRING.BRED HER TO A SUPER BULLY CHAMPAGNE/LIVER MERLE.
THE LARGEST LITTER FROM ONE OF OUR GAME GIRLS WAS 15 HER VERY 1ST. BREEDING.

ya it totally depends on the female and when she was bred can factor in as well. I have had litters of 8, 10, 11. First time mom did 11 and then 8 her next. One other did 8 her first litter but everyone else had litters of 10 as the norm first time round heres

Onyx tied with Rocko twice and had 9 pups on her first and only breeding.
I've read before that it depends on the female and also on how many times you let the female and male tie. The more they tie, the more eggs that get fertilized.
I'm guessing if this is true.. letting dogs tie 3-5 times will throw a larger litter like 11-16 or more lol.

NOT REALLY.WE HAVE HAD FEMALES TIE SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE JUST 5 PUPS THEN BREED A FEMALE ONCE OR TWICE AND HAVE A MONSTER LITTER.I THINK IT DEPENDS ON WHAT PART OF HER CYCLE SHE IS BRED AND HOW OLD THE MALE.

Oh ok.. wasn't too sure about that, just something I read online.

What I don't understand is a double sired litter. A female can take from 2 different males in 1 heat cycle? Cuz if that's true then I'd think what a posted before would have some truthfulness to it. Not sure though... let me know what you guys know about double sired litters please!

DON'T THINK IT OUGHT TO BE ALLOWED.I KNOW IN THE ADBA AND THE UKC THEY HAVE A PLACE ON THE LITTER APPS FOR JUST THAT-BUT I THINK THAT WOULD CAUSE ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS.PUPS WOULD HAVE TO BE DNA TO BEABLE TO TELL WHO WAS THE SIRE

I seen an ad posted once where the 2 sires were litter mates and had the same ped. That's really the only way I could see it being acceptable.
If the 2 sires were unrelated then the pup owners wouldn't know which ped to follow... and if they follow the wrong one then it could cause inbreeding... major issues.

VERY VERY TRUE.BUT A PERSON THAT WILL USE 2 DIFFERENT MALES USUALLY WILL TIGHT LINE-BREED/IN-BREED ALSO AND THERE IN ITSELF ARE MANY,MANY HEALTH ISSUES.

HE HAS A FEW GOOD YRS LEFT IF IN TOP HEALTH.AS THE MALE GET OLDER-HIS SPERM COUNT WILL DECLINE.
AND WITH THE UKC AFTER THE MALE REACHS 8 YRS THEY HAVE TO BE DNA PROFILED PLUS THE OFFSPRING.

he is in real good health ...when i got him at age 6 years old i took him to the vet for a check up and the vet thought he was only 3 years old and he has only gotten better.
