Hey everyone, figured it only just to post a thread with the intent of getting to know a bit about the regulars, whom I have read responses by briefly before registering with PBS (Pit Bull Social). That probably isn't an esoterically correct acronym, but it humored me =)

Anyhow, what are your guys' top 3 favorite bloodlines of SBT, AST, or ABPT depending upon your passion within the breed? I'd have to say that my favorites, to start it off, are of APBT and are:

-Colby
-Jeep
-Buck

Hope to have some good chats with you guys, nice to be on PitbullSocial!

I to agree with choccacon and a DNA test is a great start.  But my opinion is papers are not the key and not the most important. To me knowing the parents and the history about the dog is.  If you cannot find out the bloodlines or background you don't know what you are breeding. Bully, Game, Show? You have no Idea what his background is were his parents fought, how there temperaments were, how big they were what to expect when your breeding by what is in his linage.  There is a lot of knowledge in the linage of a dog.  This is something I really like to know before I breed a dog.  Any dog not just APBT.  By having the dogs background will also tell you if hes pure or not.  So will a DNA test but it doesn't give you anything else it doesn't give a bloodline or what to expect.  Then you can find out what you want to breed for.  Yes he could have an awesome temperament now but if his parents didn't or developed bad habits he may in the future or his offspring can too.  If his parents were fought and bred to be aggressive you may not see it in him until its too late or even in him in all his offspring could carry it.  His mother could have an alergy or mange you may not see it in him. There are health concerns you would know by knowing the parents.  I personally think if you cannot find out the background or bloodlines you should fix him and have a wonderful house pet, but that's just me. You will find people having other opinions and even breed when they have no clue if there dog is Purebred, and they don't care either.  I am glad you care enough to ask questions one of my favorite saying the only stupid question is the one you don't ask. I wish you luck. You have a lot of time to think about it and ask question.  Do your research and find out what  you can and make you decision then.  If there is anyway I can help please let me know. I took a look at your boy Austin Pickering his a nice looking Pitty and if I was to say he does look pure, but I still wouldn't breed him on just that.

Austin- Glad that you are asking questions and wanting to learn all you can! This site and the people on here are the most respectful that you'll find on any APBT forum, at least in my opinion. I just joined another APBT forum and on every thread there is an incredible amount of disrespect and negativity... even from the moderators of that site.
Here at pitbullsocial we do our best to share our knowledge with anyone, new or not. We are always happy to have a new member join the site... love to share stories, pictures, videos, information, etc with one another. Most of us find it unacceptable to be disrespectful or rude to anyone as this is a family oriented site... that's why you won't see vulgar language or inappropriate pictures, and if you do... it is soon to be deleted or edited.
We appreciate you not leaving the site and sticking around to learn all you can.

About breeding your blue nose though, personally I wouldn't even though he sounds like a great dog. My only reason is just because you don't know his lineage... so you don't know what female would make for the best breeding and like Beautiful Bully Kennels said, you don't know what traits (good or bad) could be passed down. After researching, if you feel you'd still like to breed... I would find another dog that is for sure purebred with papers that you feel are up to your breeding standards... so no one could question the fact of why you are breeding, or you'll always have someone questioning 'why'. The decision in the end is always up to you... all we're here are for opinions. Also, keep your head up and don't let anyone bring you down!

Good to know Choccacon, I'll have to keep an eye out for some of these events and go see what they are about when ran by the CKC.

Anyone know about the Mayday line? Just saw the beefiest male in awhile; my buddy said he was full Mayday.

Does the massive bone structure/musculature run pretty standard among these Mayday dogs? On anyone's yard, so as to give a bit of overview from experience?

Honestly-never heard of it? Where and what did it originate from?

Haven't heard much about the Mayday bloodline either, but this is what I THINK it is based off of:

Mayday ROM: http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/modules.php?name=Public&file=printPedigree&dog_id=560

Chain weight was 75 in the Mayday ROM dog, and this pit I saw was super conditioned at working weight; but probably would have plumped out to a 70 or 72 chain weight.

Anyhow, just figured I'd see if it was a known or held APBT bloodline by anyone here on PBS.

Cheers,

Thanks guys for the info, very cool.

I think I may need to get a hold of some Mayday somewhere down the line.

VERY cool line. I was hoping that was the dog the line was coming from, as I also like Hollingsworth; didn't know they were in the same Ped.

Some of the best dogs I have seen in my 30+ yrs are bloodlines like or that come down from
Hemphills
Wilders
Boudreaux
Colby

Boudreaux and Wilders being some of the best game and best looking dogs..

Wilders, Hemphill breedings made some of the best Red Nose families to date

Boudreaux being some of the best game dogs ever..

Colby dogs were just some of the most game dogs ever, but for looks they were not the show dog type, not to take away from APBT being bred for gameness only at one time...
