I to agree with choccacon and a DNA test is a great start. But my opinion is papers are not the key and not the most important. To me knowing the parents and the history about the dog is. If you cannot find out the bloodlines or background you don't know what you are breeding. Bully, Game, Show? You have no Idea what his background is were his parents fought, how there temperaments were, how big they were what to expect when your breeding by what is in his linage. There is a lot of knowledge in the linage of a dog. This is something I really like to know before I breed a dog. Any dog not just APBT. By having the dogs background will also tell you if hes pure or not. So will a DNA test but it doesn't give you anything else it doesn't give a bloodline or what to expect. Then you can find out what you want to breed for. Yes he could have an awesome temperament now but if his parents didn't or developed bad habits he may in the future or his offspring can too. If his parents were fought and bred to be aggressive you may not see it in him until its too late or even in him in all his offspring could carry it. His mother could have an alergy or mange you may not see it in him. There are health concerns you would know by knowing the parents. I personally think if you cannot find out the background or bloodlines you should fix him and have a wonderful house pet, but that's just me. You will find people having other opinions and even breed when they have no clue if there dog is Purebred, and they don't care either. I am glad you care enough to ask questions one of my favorite saying the only stupid question is the one you don't ask. I wish you luck. You have a lot of time to think about it and ask question. Do your research and find out what you can and make you decision then. If there is anyway I can help please let me know. I took a look at your boy Austin Pickering his a nice looking Pitty and if I was to say he does look pure, but I still wouldn't breed him on just that.
